'I'm ready for my closeup Mr Thomas!'

Speedy can be described as a lovable goof. In earlier episodes he is sometimes seen playing hooky from work, to visit Lucile, or just sitting around, reading the paper whilst the others are working (something they were quick to scold him for!) However, in battle, he is 100% committed to the cause of victory and justice. He has a strong attraction to Lucille, and after competing with Guido for her affection, he appears to win her over.

'Lois Lane I presume?'

Speedy is considered by the fan base to be the most powerful member of the Pizza Cat team. He wields the strongest weapon in their arsenal; the Magical Ginzu sword. His main weapon during battle is the Ginzu swords companion sword 'Binky'. Using the two swords together, he unleashes his finisher, known as the Cats Eye Slash. Speedy is an excellent swordsman, but he is proficient with other weapons too. In 'The Cheese who Stole Christmas' he managed to produce a grappling hook, to stop the big cheese from escaping, yelling 'Not while I can still pull out great props from nowhere!'

'Bad news, Bad Bird!'

Speedy's surname comes from the Italian word Servichi which translates as 'Service' making his name a clever play on words. His Japanese name Yattaro translates as 'I'll fight you!' ideal for this aggressive fighter. His alias Nyanki Ichi Gou (which means Number One) may also have a second meaning. Ichigo means 'Strawberry' in Japanese. It is believed that this referees to the colour of his helmet's red bar.
